LDS Church—Published Works
Face-to-Face Event Announcement

During my time as an intern with the LDS Church's web content department, I worked heavily with LDS Church News by editing, writing, and publishing articles.
This article is for an announcement for a "Face-to-Face" event the Church hosted for the youth.
This is a personal favorite of mine: it was my first article ever published in actual print as well as online.

Friend "Helping Hands" Campaign

This was the largest project of my internship. The Friend magazine, which the LDS Church publishes to children, had launched a campaign centered around "Helping Hands." I contacted everyone in the article and coordinated the entire process. I even designed this picture with one of the photographers. This was published in the LDS Church News.

72 Hours of Service

I worked closely with the social media team during my time as an intern. They had a video go "viral" and asked me to write an article about it.

Becoming Better

The first article I had published. They asked me to write an editorial, nothing newsworthy, and this is what I chose to write. This was the window to many opportunities within the office. I received many more writing opportunities, both with bylines and without.

FHE Object Lesson
The first magazine article I've had published. It is a two-page spread in the New Era magazine for youth. The article presents an object lesson the youth can do with their family.

School Work Highlights
The majority of the following works are the result of a class I took exploring professional writing scenarios. I was asked to choose a company to write about as if I worked for them. I chose the Walt Disney Company. In no way were these meant to be published nor do they represent the views or opinions of The Walt Disney Company. Using their name and likeness was purely a guide through the semester. Please, accept these as examples of my writing abilities, but they are in no way newsworthy (nor accurate, probably).
Writing for Strategic Communication

These are examples of a sample press package I mocked up for a made-up event. The event was a speech the CEO would give. The topic was an actual news event: Disney was named the World's Most Powerful Brand.
To the right are sample blog posts. These were written as if I managed a blog for Disney. They are semi-newsworthy, and are based on events that were trending at the time I wrote them.
These are miscellaneous pieces I wrote for the class. One is a magazine feature on Disney. The second is a sample podcast script for an imaginary scenario where a business podcast interviews a Disney executive.
Islam in the Media
This final piece happens to be the article that changed my perspective on writing. I wrote it back in the Spring of 2014 for an introduction to news writing class. This is noteworthy as it is the foundation piece and the gateway to current career path.

Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal
Game developer Bungie announced the release of their much-anticipated title Destiny 2. This is a review and opinion piece I wrote about their announcement.
